Help with Alcohol Addiction in DerbySo its now 2019 and many of us turn our thoughts towards new year resolutions, maybe to stop smoking, maybe to get fitter, but also maybe you’ve realised that your glass of wine / beer when you get home after work has become an unhealthy and escalating habit and you’re now looking for help with alcohol addiction in Derby. Ok, I’m not trying to make out you’re an alcoholic or that you cant actually exist without a drink. What I’m saying is that maybe, as I’ve said, its just become an unhealthy habit for you. So you’re not actually looking for help with alcohol addiction in Derby – just a bit of help in getting into a healthier lifestyle. And that perhaps is what 95% of people who come to me with alcohol problems want. Yes, of course I do get alcoholics coming to me – but often theirs is a problem in that the alcohol is used as a way of blotting out past problems. So in dealing with such cases when someone does need help with alcohol addiction in Derby, then I always work on the cause of the problem first. Without going into too much detail I hope that makes sense.
So why do I drink so much ?Well, clearly not an easy question to answer. Generally though, people use alcohol as a way of :
- Feeling more confident
- Feeling happier
- Relieving stress
- Unwinding at the end of a day
- Socialising / having a good time
So what now ?Well, by the shear fact that you’re reading this article then you’ve either realised that you have a problem – or someone close to you has a problem. The big thing is to recognise, and yes, admit that something needs to change. As the saying goes “…if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got”. To be honest, for most people who come to me – the alcohol has just become a bad habit rather than them being an alcoholic and I’m able to carry out therapy in a “one off ” session lasting 1.5 – 2 hours (I would confirm this with you at initial contact).
